The ATV market caters to a variety of riders, from the recreational weekend warriors to the extreme sport enthusiasts. Among the plethora of choices available, the Yamaha Big Bear 400 4x4 IRS 2010 stands out as an impressive all-terrain vehicle, perfect for both the beginner and experienced rider.
This attractive machine is powered by a 386cc, 4-stroke, air-/oil-cooled single; SOHC engine, making it capable of handling nearly any off-road challenge you throw at it. Fuel delivery is optimal with a Mikuni® 33mm BSR and ignition is via a DC-CDI. Additionally, the Big Bear 400 offers an easy starting system - electric with an auxiliary pull, which is an excellent compromise between convenience and reliability.
The Big Bear 400 seamlessly integrates a 5-speed transmission with reverse functionality, an automatic clutch and front and rear-wheel engine braking. This gives the rider maximum control regardless of the terrain or riding conditions. Another significant advantage is the Yamaha On-Command® push-button; a 3-way locking differential, with options for 2WD, 4WD, and locked 4WD; and shaft drive. This essentially provides the rider with tailored ride conditions to match their preferences or the demands of specific terrains.
Adding to the overall riding quality, is the ATV's independent double wishbone suspension. With a 5-way preload adjustment and impressive travel -5.8-inches at the front and 7.6-inches at the rear, this feature ensures a smooth ride even on the roughest terrains. For safe and efficient stopping, dual hydraulic discs are positioned at the front and an oil bathed, multi disc at the rear. To further tackle any terrain, the Big Bear 400 is equipped with ITP® Mud Lite tires - AT25 x 8-12 at the front and AT25 x 10-12 at the rear.
On the dimension front, the Big Bear 400 measures 79.4 in length, 43.9 in width and 46.7 in height with a ground clearance of a generous 10.5 inches. Its comfortable seat height of 35.2 inches should suffice for most standard riders. The unit's hefty 628 lbs weight is compensated by a notable hauling capacity, being able to handle 88 lbs at the front rack and 176 lbs at the back. It can also tow up to 904 lbs - a distinctly utilitarian aspect for backcountry excursions or chores around the property. Convenience is further boosted by its substantial 4.0-gallon fuel capacity.
Aesthetically pleasing with its sculpted lines and robust build, the Yamaha Big Bear 400 is also practical. Its instrumentation includes a speedometer, an odometer, and a fuel gauge. Lighting is covered by dual 30W Krypton multi-reflector headlights and a 21/5W brake light. On the downside, the manufacturer provides only a limited factory warranty for six months.

When our family wanted to purchase our first boat we tried to find information for research. However the only information available at that time was sales brochures. All of the product information originated from the manufactures. The only price we could find was the retail price listings or MSRP (Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price).
