Review: The 2022 Monterey Boats Super Sport Series 258SS - Luxury and Performance Rolled Into One
The 2022 Monterey Boats Super Sport Series 258SS is a prime example of a vessel that seamlessly integrates comfort, convenience, and high performance into a single package. This Bow Rider, which I recently had the opportunity to review for See Dealer Cost, is more than just a boat, it's an experience.
Let's start with the standards offered on this boat. The Super Sport Series 258SS boasts of a wide array of amenities such as a bimini top with an embroidered boot, a carry-on cooler with a 48-quart capacity, LED 12V courtesy lights in blue and white, and stainless steel drink holders, just to name a few.
The fiberglass cockpit liner with non-skid and drainage, combined with black urethane grab handles with stainless steel inserts, sets the scene for an ergonomic and secure marine environment. Plus, it features an ample variety of storage areas, including an in-floor ski with a gas-assisted hatch cover.
The vessel's electrical system is weatherproof and comes with the convenience of dual battery switches. And let's not forget the fusion satellite-ready AM/FM stereo with built-in iPod dock. Entertainment on the water has never been easier.
The helm comes equipped with a compass, a depthsounder with a shallow water alarm, fog-resistant gauges with low-glare night lighting, a 12V outlet, and a wheel with silver inserts. The MP3 adapter is a nice touch for music enthusiasts.
The boat offers a head with a countertop with a solid surface inlay, synthetic wood flooring, a porta-potty, and a vanity with a sink and pullout sprayer. For those who enjoy extended trips on the water, these provisions will be greatly appreciated.
But functionality does not compromise style or essence. The boat flaunts colored hull sides and deck stripes, custom hull side graphics, and a walk-thru door at the helm and transom. Plus, the onyx framed windshield adds a modern and chic flair to the boat's overall design.
One of the most remarkable features of this vessel is the seating. It includes an aft-facing seat with a carry-on slide-out cooler, a bow bolster, swivel bucket seats with sliders and flip-up bolster both at the aft L-lounge area and at the bow, and seat cushions with storage compartments.
With dimensions of 25'1" LOA with a swim platform, a beam of 8'6", and a deadrise of 20 degrees, and powered with a maximum power of 430 HP, this vessel is designed for an easy handling and a smooth ride in different water conditions.
The boat carries a substantial fuel capacity of 65 gallons and has a capacity to host an impressive weight of up to 2,475 lbs of person and up to 2,600 lbs max person with gear weight. The dry weight of the boat is 5,100 lbs.
Monterey Boat has indeed thoughtfully designed the 2022 Super Sport Series 258SS to cater to mariners who appreciate luxury, comfort and high performance. Whether you are into water sports, fishing, cruising, or simply enjoying the open water, this bow rider does not disappoint.
In conclusion, the MSRP might be a bit on the steep side at $103,643, but for all its features and convenience, the 2022 Monterey Boats Super Sport Series 258SS is a solid investment for every sea-loving individual or family.

When our family wanted to purchase our first boat we tried to find information for research. However the only information available at that time was sales brochures. All of the product information originated from the manufactures. The only price we could find was the retail price listings or MSRP (Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price). Magazines featured articles, and had really great photo layouts, it only offered product description and the (MSRP) retail price.
We went to the dealership where the sales guy held all the cards. The best thing he had going for him was our lack of information. We tried to wrangle on price without any real success. We bought the boat, but we paid too much. After that experience we felt there had to be a better way.
So we started this website because we did not want anyone else to feel disadvantaged like our family did that day. We discussed what we would like to see.
