Categorized within the 225 – 350 horsepower, this outboard motor boasts power and might, just as much as it exudes sophistication and elegance. It features an engine type of V6 with a displacement of 4.2L leading to a prop shaft horsepower of a tremendous 300hp at 5500 rpm.
Let’s talk specifications for a moment. With a bore x stroke of 96 x 96mm (3.78 x 3.78 in), a full throttle RPM range of 5000 – 6000 rpm, and a mighty alternator output at W.O.T of 50 – 70 Amp, you’ll be able to drive your vessel with a confidence and ease likened to slicing through butter.
This beast weighs between 250kg and 265kg. Its fuel intake is through an EFI system, which markedly enhances fuel efficiency. This Outboard Motor recommends an octane 89 fuel, and the Yamaha's patented Yamalube® 4M engine oil. To better protect your engine from contaminants, Yamaha recommends a 10-micron fuel/water separating filter (external).
Be rest assured of clean, efficient combustion as this engine is a C.A.R.B. 3-star rated, has a thermostat-controlled cooling system, and a gear ratio of 1.75:1. It's incredibly easy to navigate too with a shift gear mechanism that features Forward, Neutral, and Reverse capabilities.
Possessing an electric starting system, TCI microcomputer-controlled ignition, and the flexibility in choosing shaft lengths from 25" - 30" - 35", Yamaha has ensured the engine is brilliantly tailored for maximum maritime utility. When our family wanted to purchase our first boat we tried to find information for research. However the only information available at that time was sales brochures. All of the product information originated from the manufactures. The only price we could find was the retail price listings or MSRP (Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price). Magazines featured articles, and had really great photo layouts, it only offered product description and the (MSRP) retail price.
We went to the dealership where the sales guy held all the cards. The best thing he had going for him was our lack of information. We tried to wrangle on price without any real success. We bought the boat, but we paid too much. After that experience we felt there had to be a better way.
